A harness upgrade is recommended with high wattage bulbs. It is a good insurance policy to make sure nothing happens to the original harness. Simply place the harness upgrade in between the oem harness and the high watt bulb. If the bulb over heats the harness , you can always replace it and keep the original from being damaged. One place is the head light lens. The bulb type will often be marked on it. Another place is on the bulb itself, the bulb type and wattage will be printed or stamped into the base.
