The Riviera Suspension name first entered the Buick line in 1949 as the designation for the new two door pillarless hardtop, which was described in advertising as smart. The Road master Riviera Suspension along with the Cadillac Coupe de Ville constituted the first mass production use of this body style, which was to become extremely popular over the next 30 years. Starting in 1955 GM also offered a four door pillar less hardtop body style, and the Riviera Suspension designation was also applied to these models. Riviera Suspension hardtop bodies were offered on all Buick lines in the next few years, including the Buick Century, Buick Special. Since it was a body style designation and not a model, however, the name did not usually appear on the car.

The Riviera Suspension ins your vehicle can make a huge different on the ride and look. If its too spongy it will be hard to take fast corners. If its too high it will make big wheels look funny, kind of like a SUV. I'm sure you don't want to make your vehicle that you spent so much money yon looking funky? All it takes is the right shock/coilover and strut to make your car slammed. Its not always good to go too low as you can scratch your bumper or damage the bottom of your car on bumpers and pot holes.
