Introduced in January 89, Dodges compact Spirit Bulbs & HID front drive four door sedan and the nearly identical Acclaim were three in longer in wheel base than Aries Reliant, which they replaced. Spirit Bulbs & HIDs came in base, LE, and sporty ES trim. Early models lacked a driver side air-bag, but that safety feature arrived as the regular 90 model year began. All disc brakes went into the ES at that time, too.
