An all-new Cougar Spoilers greeted car buyers in 1980 as the Cougar Spoilers moved to the smaller 108 inch wheelbase Fox platform. The car was now even more similar to its Ford Thunderbird relative. The sedan and base Cougar Spoilers were dropped this year. The XR-7 was once again the only Cougar Spoilers model.
